Phetchaburi used to be a Royal city, there is a famous Palace here called Khao Wang which was built back in 1860 by King Mongkut. The province is split into 8 districts which are: - Mueang Phetchaburi, Khao Yoi, Nong Ya Plang, Cha-am, Tha Yang, Ban Lat, Ban Laem and Kaeng Krachan. Phetchaburi holds a lot of history but nowadays its known for its famous sweet making and tourist sights.
This is a great area to visit with plenty of things to see and do:-
*Hat Cha-am - This is said to be one of the most popular beaches in Thailand
*Maruekhathaiyawan Palace - Beach side Palace which used to be used by King Rama VI and is made from wood.
*Huai Sai Wildlife Breeding Centre
*Khao Bandai It - Ancient temple from the Ayuttaya Period, has several caves.
*Tham Khao Luang - Cave which contains a Buddha image.
*Hat Puek Tian - This famous beach which is very popular with the Thai people has a huge statue of a Lady standing in the sea.
*Kaeng Krachan Dam - The dam is 58 metres high with beautiful views.
*Kaeng Krachan National Park - This has been a national park since 1981, it has beautiful scenery and jungle. They also do rafting along the river.
*Tham Kham Yoi - King Mongkut practised his meditation here and has several Buddha images.
