Lop Buri was once known as Lavo, it was a very important town to the Khmers between the 10th and 13th Century. There are many ancient Khmer ruins here such as the Prang Sam Yot which was a former Hindu shrine built in the 13th century and Wat Phra Si Maha That which was built around 1157.
Over places to visit are Narai Ratchaniwet Palace, Prang Khack, Khuen Pa Sak Cholasit dam.
